Welcome to this week’s Friday Favorites!
But Kibby, you realize it’s Saturday, right?

Yes, I know, I’m a bad host this week and I’m posting my Friday Favorites a day late. To be fair, I wrote 3 reviews, finalized 3 others, and was completely entranced by The Tenth Girl (which is creepy AF and I am loving it). So let’s just pretend I’m a day late because Saturday is the sequel to Friday and this week’s topic is SEQUEL’S!
Yes, I am proud of myself for looping it around like that.

Gemina (The Illuminae Files #2) by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff – Y’all, this book. This damn book. I was incredibly wary going into this one because I was so enamored with the cast of Illuminae and I was very distraught when I found out we were getting a whole new cast. Who were these new characters that sought to take me away from my beloved Kady and Ezra and AIDAN? But I need not fear, for I became just as enamored with Nik, Hannah, and Ella. Filled with the same sarcasm and wit as Illuminae , Gemina holds it’s own against it’s predecessor.

The Wise Man’s Fear (The Kingkiller Chronicle #2) by Patrick Rothfuss – I don’t even know how to describe my love for this series, but I know that this is one of my all time favorite sequels. With the exception of some fae scenes (I could not roll my eyes hard enough at certain times. If you’ve read it, you know what I’m talking about), I loved every single moment of this epic sequel. We get more of Kvothe’s story and as it unfolds I love the world more and more. I have been meaning to do a reread of these two books lately and I think this autumn will be the perfect time.

Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass #2) by Sarah J Maas – Widely disregarded by most of the TOG fans that I know because it doesn’t have a particular fae warrior, Crown of Midnight is my favorite book in the series. This book has EVERYTHING! Mystery, budding love, horrific betrayals, and one of the best endings I’ve read. This is the book where everything changes in the TOG universe and I will always love it for that. I also love it for ripping out my heart, but that’s cause I’m weird.

Great list! I had the whole list of ToG sequels on my own list and Gemina made it on there too 😃I still need to read Wise Man’s Fear and I honestly don’t know why I haven’t read it yet since I loved The Name of the Wind!

Yes! Wise Man’s Fear was such a fantastic sequel! I was so happy to see that it lived up to and expanded upon The Name of the Wind since that was such an excellent book! I’m hoping we get book 3 sometime soon!
