Want Now Wednesday: Don’t Call the Wolf

Yes, hello. I’d like to report an attack. HarperTeen is coming for my 2020 TBR without relent.

Don’t Call the Wolf
Author: Aleksandra Ross
Publisher: HarperTeen
Release Date: April 28, 2020
Synopsis: A forest, besieged. A queen, unyielding. Fans of Leigh Bardugo and Holly Black will devour this deliciously dark Eastern European–inspired YA fantasy debut.

When the Golden Dragon descended on the forest of Kamiena, a horde of monsters followed in its wake.

Ren, the forest’s young queen, is slowly losing her battle against them. Until she rescues Lukasz—the last survivor of a heroic regiment of dragon slayers—and they strike a deal. She will help him find his brother, who vanished into her forest…if Lukasz promises to slay the Dragon.

But promises are all too easily broken.

This gorgeously imagined stand-alone fantasy takes readers on a journey full of simmering tension, lush romance, and evocative folklore—perfect for fans of The Hazel Wood and The Wrath & the Dawn.

Gimmie all that stand alone, simmering tension goodness! We needs it, precious! Okay, I’m going to keep from going all Gollum on this, but seriously: I WANT THIS BOOK NOW! Dark Eastern European folklore inspiration, lush romance, and a forest Queen (I want to be a forest queen, damnit!)? I will devour this book! And according to Edelweiss, this beauty clocks in at 512 pages which means it hopefully wont suffer from lack of world/character building like a lot of the YA debuts I’ve been reading recently.

Don’t Call the Wolf releases on April 28, 2020, and can be pre-ordered at the publisher’s website.
