What do I want? Something dark, witty, and short. What does Tor.com do? Provide me with exactly what I want!

Synopsis: In a botched demonic extraction, they say the demon feels it ten times worse than the man. But they don’t die, and we do. Equilibrium.
The unnamed and morally questionable narrator is an exorcist with great follow-through and few doubts. His methods aren’t delicate but they’re undeniably effective: he’ll get the demon out—he just doesn’t particularly care what happens to the person.
Prosper of Schanz is a man of science, determined to raise the world’s first philosopher-king, reared according to the purest principles. Too bad he’s possessed.
“Too bad he’s possessed.” Talk about a hook line! I was originally pulled in by that fantastic cover in all its ruff and smoke glory, but once I read the synopsis, I was well and truly sold. Something about this dark novella just reaches out to me and I cannot wait to read it. I’ve got a soft spot for demon-y books and I think Prosper’s Demon will find a place of honor on my book shelves.
