Friday Favorites: Unfinished Series

Hey, it’s still Friday in my time zone!

In this week’s Friday Favorites we are looking at unfinished series. Meaning both completed series that we haven’t finished reading or series that author’s haven’t completed yet. Both give me a fair share of bookish sadness.

The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss – Look, I’m not here to whine about how long a certain someone has taken to write book three. Creative processes are fickle things and the final book in this trilogy has A LOT to stand up to. But also, I read book two when it was first released and I am DYING for book three. DYING!

A Song of Fire and Ice by George RR Martin – This one hurts less since I got an ending via the show (y’all know that the producers were told how GRRM planned to end the story and how the show ended is probably still how the books are gonna end, right? Just sayin’ *daintily sips tea*). However, the books and the show are different in their ways and I am VERY interested in seeing how it all plays out in the books.

Mistborn Era 2 by Brandon Sanderson – Yeah, everyone is all stoked on Sanderson writing more in the Stormlight Archive series, but I’m over here crying for The Lost Metal aka book 4 in Era 2 of the Mistborn series. And while we are at it, I need Era 3 as well. It sounds wild and has an 80s flair and I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE.

Jackaby by William Ritter – Y’all, I loved the first book in this series and I still am not quite sure why I haven’t finished it. Its fully of whimsy and magic and mystery and all things that make me smile. I think once the spooky season gets fully underway in my area (it’s still 90+ degrees which is painful, not spooky), I’ll pick the books back up.

Arc of a Scythe by Neal Shusterman – Literally the only thing holding me back from finishing this series is the fact that it’s not November 5th yet. I am ready for this book to mess me up and answer some damn questions.

The Confectioner’s Guild by Claire Luana – Murder mysteries + magical baking? YES PLEASE! I absolutely loved the first book in this series (and it was probably my favorite review to write cause I sprinkled Great British Bake Off gifs through the whole thing)

Well, this list could go on, but honestly, I am very distracted by Catching Fire right now. The universe decided that when I have a very long to do list that there should be a Hunger Games movie marathon on the TV to distract me.

I feel like poor Rothfuss and Martin are the unwillingly elected poster boys for unfinished series! It’s a strange mix of me feeling bad for them and empathetic, and me also thinking ‘please just finish the damn book’.
