Top Ten Tuesday: Autumn TBR

Ah, Autumn! That wonderful time of year when the temperature drops, and I can finally start wearing my vast collection of sweaters. *looks at outdoor thermometer and sees it is 98 degrees* Well, heck! At least I can read autumnally until the weather decides to cooperate.

I’m trying to plan my reading for the next few months with care and what passes for precision in my life. I have just about 35 books left to read this year to hit my Goodreads goal and I’M GONNA HIT MY GOAL DAMIT! I need to do this. So let’s see what I’m hoping help me hit that elusive number of 100 books read in 2019.

Winterwood by Shea Ernshaw – I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this one and I am super excited to start it. I may have had some problems with The Wicked Deep by this author, but the atmosphere was not one of those problems.

There Will Come a Darkness by Katy Rose Pool – This one has been calling my name since I first heard of it. The time to read it is now.

Sisters of Shadow and Light by Sarah B Larson – This one just sounds so fantastic and full of dark atmosphere. I’ve got access to an eARC of this one through Edelweiss and I am very excited to get to it.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Vol. 1 Joss Whedon (Created by), Jordie Bellaire, Dan Mora (Illustrated by) – Y’all, this one does not need explanation. It’s Buffy.

The Umbrella Academy by Gerard Way (Writer), Gabriel Bá (Artist), Dave Stewart (Colourist)– Ever since I devoured the Netflix adaptation, I knew I need to read the source material. Will be listening to the stellar score of the show while reading these.

Firefly: Unification War Vol 1 Joss Whedon (Created by), Greg Pak, Dan McDaid (Illustrated by) – Another that needs no explanation. It’s Firefly.

The Hearts We Sold by Emily Lloyd-Jones – I read and fell in love with The Bone Houses by Lloyd-Jones (WHICH IS OUT TODAY GO BUY IT!) earlier this summer when I read and reviewed the ARC (link to review). I’ve had The Hearts We Sold on my radar for a while and when I found it at a used bookstore I grabbed it up right quick.

The Talisman by Stephen King and Peter Straub – This will be a buddy read and my first foray into King’s writing. It’s spooky season, so why not?

Beastly Bones (and the rest of the Jackaby series) by William Ritter – The first book is like a spoopy (which according to the youths means spooky and funny) mash up of Sherlock and Doctor Who. I absolutely loved it and would love to finish the series this year.

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer – I committed to finish two long time TBR series this year, The Raven Cycle (which I’m almost done with) and The Lunar Chronicles. I’ve been told they are fast and fun reads, so I’m looking forward to starting them.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins – I have been dying to reread this one lately and I found out today that Tatiana Maslany (of Orphan Black fame) does the audiobook narration. I haven’t ever bought an audiobook so fast.

Give the Dark my Love/Bid My Soul Farewell by Beth Revis – Necromancy and alchemy? Sign me the F up.

City of Ghosts/Tunnel of Bones by VE Schwab – I’ve been sitting on City of Ghosts since it came out last year. And since my copy of Tunnel of Bones just showed up recently, I felt it was time to you know…read the darn books.

Beyond the Black Door by A.M. Stickland – I have an ARC for this one and have been meaning to pick it up all summer. It sounds super intriguing and the author co-wrote on of my favorite sci-fi books.

The Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden – This was supposed to be a summer read to combat the deathly heat. But…well…here we are. I really want to, at bare minimum, read the first book in the trilogy.

What’s on your Autumn TBR? Have you read any of these books I’m looking to get to in this wonderful season?

Great list! Sisters of Shadow and Light sounds good! I think I’ll have to add this one to my list.
I really liked Give the Dark my Love, BUT: it is super slow. And then the ending is everything. I hope you enjoy it too!

  2. Realms of My Mind

I really enjoyed the Lunar Chronicles, hope you do too! Give the Dark My Love was something I picked up at Comic Con a year ago and haven’t gotten to it yet, but it sounds intriguing. Great selection of backlist reads!
